I used colored pencils instead of paint.  It was faster and blending was easier than I thought.  I’m still not great at it but with practice I think I could get decent.  If I had to choose one form over the other to stick with… I dunno, both have their charms.

Also…that new character is a mole who we will meet presently.  I had to google for reference photos–very carefully.
